Tate Bros Ltd, operator of garden centres in the South East of England, has upgraded its accounting software to Opera 3. The upgrade has brought improved efficiencies to Tate Bros through simplified processes, flexible data entry and faster navigation.

Along with affiliate firm Tates of Pyecombe, Tate Bros operates the Paradise Park, Mayberry and South Downs garden centres and visitor attractions in the South East of England. Additionally the firms generate income by renting out a number of commercial and residential properties in the region.  Together, Tate Bros and Tates of Pyecombe have a turnover of £14 million and employ 245 people.

Already a user of Opera II, Tate Bros decided to upgrade to Opera 3 to take advantage of the new features on offer.  Nick Gentry, finance director, Tate Bros explains:

“We were impressed with the greater flexibility and versatility offered by Opera 3 through features such as open period accounting and error correction journal entries. These make it easier to adjust data entries, both in the future and retrospectively, and ensure a full audit trail.  In addition, with the Microsoft Office look and feel, Opera 3 offers improved usability.  Although we were perfectly happy using Opera II, the move to Opera 3 has significantly enhanced the day to day operation of our accounts department, for example, having multiple reports open at any one time saves time and enables us to be more efficient.”
